Happy 2021 everyone! As part of the end of year process for me, I got out to unplug a bit. This year was a little different as I was taken away with friends and family to the mountains above Banning, CA. Having time with family and friends and time to enjoy each other without distraction has been great.

I hesitate to lament the year many of us have had. Instead, I would like to focus on opportunity and moving forward. Just as many are focused on how the COVID 19 has ravaged our nation and is a threat to mankind, there is another faction reading the details of the CDC website disclosing many of the attributed deaths of COVID 19 were in fact, other causes of death by the tens of thousands.

Lets let time and other channels continue that debate, as well as who the President may be at the end of the month.

During 2020, I hit the web hard. I took my expertise in the Learning and Membership community more seriously. I even took on some work helping the great folks at LifterLMS (https://lifterlms.com). I also relaunched my Powersport initiative – The Powersport Academy. When that didn’t launch as hard as I expected, I worked to assemble a team of experts to celebrate each other as the Powersport Roundtable.

For personal development, I jumped in with the Speaker, Author and Coach Network and met awesome people like Andrew Eggleton, Jake Ballentine, Tammy Joy, and Greg Kettner. During this phase of personal development I covered books by John C. Maxwell and added the recordings as Free courses on the Mañana No Mas! Academy. Kevin Cope – best selling author – even did a session on the Mañana No Mas! podcast and allowed my to review his book “Seeing the Big Picture” as part of the Mañana No Mas! Academy.

I may look at the corporate start of 2020 with disdain. I may even (maybe with too much transparency) tell you that my checking account is writhing in agony as we go into this New Year event. But as I share these moments from the weekend surrounded with love and support… I will tell you I wouldn’t necessarily need to see it different.

My prayer for you going into this new year is to have the gift of adaptation. While we may not control everything that happens to us, we do control our reaction to it.

You may be wondering, did all the effort pay off? Well, the folks at BRP loved my work on the Powersports projects and added me to a team of trainers in their Dealer Network. There are many ongoing conversations about other projects and the brand that is Kurt von Ahnen and Mañana No Mas! is gaining traction. So yes, the effort is paying off.

As we move forward I am forced to make a few decisions. A friend in the Marketing Space – Tim Morgan of Giver Marketing – was blunt enough to tell me that I need to claim my space. I need to draw a line in the sand that defines me and what I do. You see, to many, all this stuff is distracting. Am I a web guy? A speaker? A coach? A writer? A presenter? A marketer? Yes.

To be more clear… I am a Business Consultant that uses technology to bring leadership and efficiency to your business and drive profits. All these things in the background are part of my tool box to make that happen.
