Being overly honest, this week has been a struggle. Even if you attempt to function outside of politics, the atmosphere online and off, is getting thicker and thicker. Nothing is making sense.

  • You must wear a mask
  • Masks don’t work
  • We must release criminals to keep them safe
  • If you open your business – you will be arrested
  • If you open your business and the Sheriff refuses to arrest you – we’ll shut off your power
  • This business can be open
  • This business needs to close
  • Dentists are not safe
  • Abortions are non-negotiable
  • Protests (some) are encouraged

In a time where our leaders are manipulating the masses in what they consider the most important election ever, we citizens must also pull our heads out of their distractions to discern our own thoughts, then vote accordingly. Think about this, the same Governor that is releasing criminals for fear of infection transferred COVID positive patients into nursing homes – our most fragile populace in this time. Things disolve on all fronts using critical thinking as nothing seems to aligning.

Worse – some are recounting the nonsense as if it makes sense to them.

So with this type of open, how can I call the article “Staying Positive in a Negative Space”? Because its needed, that is why. Someone needs to be a light in the storm of darkness and why not you or I? Think about these things:

  • George Floyd’s death is exactly how the media portrayed it.
  • How can anything you do personally in your day to day change the result of that incident? How does destroying property and continuing a perceived race gap improve the situation? If you are white – how can virtue signaling the event bring value when there are so many people of color speaking out against the cause and its messaging?

From NBC News
  • Different view – George Floyd’s death was a False Flag Operation
  • If powerful, rich people are bent on inciting disruptions to force an unnatural change, how can anything in your day to day prevent or support their efforts? Would you still have to feed your family if they de-funded the police? Would you still have rent or mortgage to pay even if large strides were made on either side of the argument?

There are people on both sides of this event publishing all kinds of content meant to suck you in. Either way – how does the narrative effect you directly?

This type of thinking can be applied to any of the distractions of today. Were world leaders, former Presidents and high-ranking officials buying or renting the company of young ladies from Epstein and his girlfriend/assistant? Some are quick to say yes, while others find it hard to fathom. If it is true or false, do you still have your own family to feed? Do you still have to pay your rent or mortgage regardless of which famous person did something horrible?

By barraging our heads with so much negative matter, people are hoping you will get confused and be more easily persuaded. I am writing this as kind of a yellow flag. Pull back a moment. Take a sigh of relief, and take stock of where you actually are in the chaos. If you are reading this, you most likely have your health, have obligations beyond yourself, and opportunity to explore.

This is why I fill the Mañana No Mas! Academy with courses on positivism, goal-setting, fitness, and business growth. Is it Okay to get distracted a bit and consume some of the news? Yes. Can it be harmful to allow yourself to be sucked in? Absolutely.

Regardless of the news cycles and the scandals that seem to hit a crescendo every major election season, we the people still have obligations to meet. The best way to meet those obligations is through the work and through your network. People hesitate to join a negative circle, so work your butt off to stay positive.

So how can you stay positive in a negative space? Find your own distractions that engage you mentally and for a bonus – physically. I have a friend in business that walks three to five miles every day. During these walks he makes positive content for his online audience. The double down for this event is that he isn’t just working to provide positive energy for himself – he is adding value to others through his positivity.

Whenever you find yourself lifting up others – that is a win!!

For me, I like to bicycle. Sometimes I run. Other times, I work on curriculum for group of adults at the church or make content like this. The key is to shut out the negative distractions and move toward something of value that is directly related to yourself.

Keep in mind that I am not dismissing what may be injustices. I am however, asserting that becoming over-indulged in these distractions precludes your ability to add value to yourself, loved ones and others. If we all focus on doing something positive rather than amplifying the negative – the light can drown out the dark.

So, how can you add value to others this week?
