As a reminder to our clients at Mañana No Mas! I wanted to share these messages directly from Zoom. There is a lot happening here and I want to make sure my clients are prepared. Many of our e-Learning and Coaching clients with WordPress sites are using a Zoom Integration Plugin. The requirements for connecting Zoom to your site are changing. Please make sure you comply with the new guidelines or search for another alternative to use streamed meetings in your project.

If you require assistance, please reach out earlier than later.

Dear Zoom Developer,

Here are some updates and ongoing items for you to be aware of: Minimum version SDK enforcement – quarterly update on May 6, 2023 JWT deprecation reminder Updated webhook validation and verification processes Team Chat Apps framework: new features & functionality for building integrations Video SDK for Flutter: general availability Meeting 5.14.0 and Video SDK 1.7.10 – iOS11 and above requirement Please see below for additional information, including any required or recommended action.

SDK Reminder: Minimum version SDK enforcement – quarterly update on May 6, 2023   Zoom enforces a minimum version for its Meeting and Video SDKs on a quarterly basis. Our next enforcement of the Software Lifecycle Policy will take place on May 6, 2023. If your apps are using a version that is below the minimum version, users will no longer be able to connect to a meeting. See the SDK minimum version policy developer documentation for details. Please refer to the Zoom Software Quarterly Lifecycle Policy for updates on the enforcement dates and versions. Action required: Please upgrade your application to use the latest SDK if you are running a version below the new minimum version and ensure that it is also distributed to your users by May 6, 2023, as it will no longer work after that date. If you have a development team, please ensure that they are aware of this policy and the approaching deadline.

JWT deprecation Reminder:   The JWT app type will be deprecated as of June 1, 2023. You have until that date to migrate any JWT-based solutions to either a Server-to-Server OAuth or OAuth app type. Please refer to the JWT App Type Deprecation FAQ, the migration guide, or the instructional webinar for more details. Action recommended: Create Server-to-Server OAuth or OAuth app types to replace existing JWT app types.

Updated webhook validation and verification processes Reminder:   Webhook validation is required for all new webhooks created after October 23, 2022. All webhooks created prior to this date will not require validation unless you make changes to them. Webhook validation will be required for all new and existing webhooks as of October 2023. The previous validation process, using the verification token (which was optional), will no longer be supported after October 2023. Actions recommended: Use the new webhook validation logic to validate webhooks created after October 2022 and upgrade existing webhooks to use this process by October 22, 2023. Update your app’s webhook verification logic to use the secret token to replace the validation token by October 22, 2023.

Team Chat Apps: Build integrations into Zoom   We’re making substantial updates to our framework for building your apps into Zoom Team Chat. Our first set of new features and functionality entails user level chat apps, app shortcuts including message and compose actions, and mobile support for building your app into the Zoom mobile client. Check out the linked documentation, and please stay tuned for additional updates and expanded functionality over the coming months.

Video SDK for Flutter is now available!   We are excited to announce the availability of the Flutter wrapper to our Video SDK! With this additional framework, you’re able to accelerate the development of natively compiled, multi-platform, video-based applications from a single codebase, while building with core Zoom technology.

Begin building with Flutter on our Zoom Developers site.

Version enforcement: Meeting 5.14.0 and Video SDK 1.7.10 will require iOS11 and above   Starting with version 5.14.11 for the Meeting SDK and 1.7.10 for the Video SDK, Zoom will require iOS 11 and above. Zoom will support SDKs that use older versions of iOS as dictated by the minimum version policy.
