How the heck are you?!?!? You can tell from the release of this week’s “value-added email” that I am burning this candle at both ends. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as we’ve been discussing on our Mañana No Mas! Morning Check-Ins.
December is a rough month this year for business. Christmas falls on the weekend, and the “great resignation” we’ve been hearing so much about seems to be impacting vacation and sick day usage before and after the holidays. What does this mean to entrepreneurs? It means you have this week to finish strong and hit your monthly targets. People you may be depending upon reaching at the end of the month simply will not be there.

When the work is done — Cheers!
Every holiday has a little bit of this, but this year is special. We have so many factors leading to the perfect storm of halted business. I have already mentioned the side-effects of the great resignation. The term Great Resignation, to me, is a bit overused but communicates well. Corporations told people to go home, work there, be productive… then tried to say “Great news, the office is open. Come on back.”. This is not going over well. People have learned that their boss really has no need to dictate where they are. They can place expectations on productivity – but you really need not geo-track me. If workers feel this strongly about that – you can imagine how well the Vaccine Mandates or threat of mandates is going.
If your job future is questionable, why would you leave Vacation and Sick time on the table? Heck, take that time and enjoy it with your family, while the checks are still being signed.
A lot of companies are closed from Christmas to New Year, and if they are open… it is likely to be a skeleton staff. So if you were thinking you’d hit people up this month to complete a transaction, it better be this week.
So what now then? While the featured image of this article may tempt you to pour a little “Coopers Mark Honey” over ice and chill, you know I would never tell you to blow off the whole end of a month. If you have already planned time off – great. If you haven’t, how will you maintain productivity even if it isn’t measured in cash flow? Let me share some of my holiday goals with you:
- Finish Writing the Book for Publishing
- Re-Publish 2 of the sites in the Mañana No Mas! family with updates
- Finish two sources of online training (me as the student)
- If there is time… knock out a few more chapters of that Jordan Petersen book
