I love to get feedback that makes me think.

Today, I read my LinkedIn Messenger to have received a question about my earlier post on AI – Artificial Intelligence. I love that. Here is the question.

HI Kurt – happy to make your acquaintance. I read your recent post about AI, but what I did not get from that post was *why* you conclude that it is a great tool. You mentioned you experimented with having it generate some blog posts on different right and left-leaning topics, but have you graduated to actually using it in your business? That is something I would be interested to hear about.  Best, Louise

Louise is right. When I read my article, I read how I state that I found biases in the AI platform. This signals to me that the output is being throttled by someone with an agenda, which to me makes it less reliable than others purport the tools to be.

So, later when I say I use it in business… is that not a contradiction?

This is where the nuance of Personal Development, Accountability, and Business all come together for me. Using AI has definite benefits in certain areas.

• General topics – making coffee, woodworking, gardening, etc
• I.T. — A lot of people are using it in my WordPress Space
• Outlining – it is great at scraping the web to see what others are asking, then outlining based on that data

The big thing is time-saving for putting out quality content. A great example of this is the outlining ability that Bertha, Bard, or ChatGPT bring to the table. Let’s say I have a client ask me about the benefits of an online course scheduler for their site. I think to myself “that would be a good topic for a post.” I could do it the old way, or I could leverage AI for the headstart.

Within seconds I would have an organized outline with a decent story arc, laying out the advantages of using an online course scheduler. Or I could have a list of the most common questions about using an online course scheduler – then write to answer those questions… giving me the best content possible.

By blending AI with my own internal knowledge and “Opinion”, I am able to craft a message that I feel adds value to my audience, in a quicker manner. The reduction of time makes me more productive in other areas that can use my focus.

Again, my Hesitation…

Where I truly hesitate is the over-reliance on this technology to make us all a bit lazier. Through this laziness, in combination with AI bias, I fear we may dumb ourselves down more in society and fall prey to more dangerous and destructive narratives.

Regardless of where you stood on issues during the pandemic. I believe most of us can say it was a real sh*tshow all around. A lack of consistency, truth, and logic was employed to have people polarized at different ends of mayhem.

When we interfere with people’s ability or desire to think on their own and weigh consequences, we surround ourselves with random, unsupported nonsense.

Summary

So yes, I believe that AI for business and productivity with a strong eye on the content is a great tool. In speaking about it like a tool, picture an axe and a wood chipper. They both “cut “process” wood but they each require a whole different set of instructions, caution, and intent. If you aren’t careful or have “Bad Intentions” with a wood chipper, the damage can be exponential in comparison to the axe.

The wood chipper is a great tool – in specific application.
